Thankfully Spring has arrived and the sun is shining, however for many this can also signify the start of the allergy season. Allergy is widespread and affects approximately one in four of the population in the UK at some time in their lives. Each year the numbers are increasing by 5%, with as many as half of all those affected being children. With Spring here tree pollens are prevalent and they can trigger an inappropriate response by the body’s immune system in allergy sufferers, resulting in some very uncomfortable symptoms such as itchy, red and watery eyes, sneezing, sinus congestion and runny nose, difficulty breathing, wheezing and possible asthma.
Acupuncture for Allergies
To manage allergies it is important to avoid the allergen wherever possible and there are many over-the-counter remedies promising symptomatic relief. However there is also another way and that’s acupuncture. In my own practice i have been very impressed with how effective acupuncture can be, with many patients experiencing significant improvements very quickly. In each treatment we look at balancing your energy system and focus on balancing the immune system leading to substantial long-term health benefits in managing allergies.
If you would like to find out more or discuss how acupuncture can help you please email or give me a call and i’d be very happy to have a chat with you.
